When one looks at the AMV8, studies her specs and admires her sensual curves it is very hard to see anything ‘baby’ about the car. Ok so it may be some 328mm shorter and 140kg leaner than the DB9…but this is no baby. The V8 Vantage certainly wears the Aston marque with pride, and rightly so. With some 380BHP and a blistering top speed of 175mph this ‘entry level’ Aston Martin comes with all of the performance needed to compete with other premiership choices. The 4.3 litre V8 delivers 0-60 is a very impressive 4.9 seconds, only some 0.2 of a second behind her older sister the DB9. But as with most cars in this league the AMV8 is about so much more than power. So beautifully tuned and balanced is the Vantage that even at top speed the car makes you feel at ease. With the low to ground (and almost perfectly on the centre of gravity) driving position, the car is designed so that the driver can feel and understand the driving experience; much the same way that an F1 driver can feel every response of their machine.
